sonaar
About
sonaar is an internationally awarded architectural visualization studio based in Innsbruck. The studio is known for a reduced, poetic visual language that balances precision and suggestion, light and shadow, the visible and the unseen. Its images go beyond pure representation, addressing emotion and imagination rather than information alone. sonaar received international recognition with the Architizer Vision Awards 2020 for the project "Alles was ich weiss, wundert mich nicht." The work is characterized by quiet intensity and a strong atmospheric focus, creating images that exist between knowledge and wonder. The studio was founded by Toni Schade, an architect, photographer, lecturer, and managing director. Educated in Innsbruck and Lisbon, he founded sonaar in 2011 and has since developed a distinct visual approach shaped by architectural thinking, photography, and teaching. Alongside practice, he lectures at architecture faculties in Vaduz, Nanjing, and Innsbruck. His strong connection to mountain landscapes and their changing moods is a recurring influence in his work.
